Stop 34 is a numbered observation point along an Everglades route, positioned to help visitors take in the wetland environment with context. The Everglades formed over thousands of years as Lake Okeechobee's overflow moved south through a broad, shallow basin — and the landscape here still bears the character of that ancient flow. The vegetation changes noticeably between stops, and marker 34 is a useful spot to compare what surrounds you now to what you saw earlier. Cypress domes, wet prairies, and sloughs each support their own wildlife communities, making each stop feel distinct.
