Site 14 is a backcountry campsite within Everglades National Park, accessed by kayak or canoe along the park's established water routes. Positioned within the broader backcountry network, it serves paddlers on overnight and multi-day journeys through the Everglades — a wilderness experience that has no equivalent anywhere else in the eastern United States.
The flat, open expanses of Florida Bay and the labyrinthine mangrove waterways that surround sites like this create a landscape that feels prehistoric and profoundly alive at the same time. Wildlife viewing from the water is exceptional throughout the year. All backcountry campers must carry a permit issued by the National Park Service.
