Site 106 is a backcountry campsite in Everglades National Park, reachable only by canoe or kayak along the park's waterway trails. Located in the southern reaches of the Everglades, these sites give paddlers access to a coastline and inland waterway system that sees remarkably little human traffic — a rarity in a state as densely visited as Florida.
For those drawn to genuine wilderness travel, a night at an Everglades backcountry site offers something irreplaceable: the sound of a subtropical night, the Milky Way undimmed by city lights, and the knowledge that you are resting in one of the Western Hemisphere's most ecologically significant landscapes. A permit is required.
