Saki Monkey
Saki Monkeys are among the more unusual primates at Zoo Miami in Richmond West, recognized by their shaggy coats and the distinctive disc-shaped face framing of the males. Originating from the forests of South America, sakis spend most of their time in the upper forest canopy, where they feed on seeds, fruits, and small animals.
They are quieter and less acrobatic than some of their primate neighbors, but that reserved quality makes patient observers feel rewarded when they catch a glimpse of natural behavior. The saki exhibit is a charming stop for anyone curious about the rich diversity of New World monkeys.
