Goitered Gazelle

The Goitered Gazelle takes its name from the enlarged larynx that males develop during the breeding season — a visible swelling that gives the throat a distinctive shape. At Zoo Miami in Richmond West, this Central Asian gazelle brings a touch of steppe wildlife to the park's diverse ungulate collection. Slender and swift, goitered gazelles have the graceful proportions typical of their family, and watching them move across open ground is a pleasant experience. They are less commonly featured in wildlife parks than their African relatives, making this exhibit a genuine point of difference for enthusiasts.
