European White Stork

The European White Stork is a bird that carries centuries of folklore — traditionally associated with luck and new beginnings across European cultures — and its presence at Zoo Miami in Richmond West gives South Florida visitors a close look at this large, dignified wader. Standing tall on long red legs, the white stork is immediately recognizable by its clean white plumage and contrasting black flight feathers. Slow and deliberate in movement, storks are peaceful to observe. This exhibit offers an interesting counterpoint to the tropical South American and African birds elsewhere in the park, rounding out Zoo Miami's impressive avian diversity.
