Marker 43 is a numbered stop on an Everglades observation route, set within one of the most botanically rich regions of the United States. The Everglades and surrounding South Florida supports more than 1,000 native plant species, and even a short stretch between numbered stops can reveal dramatic botanical variety. Bromeliad-covered cypress trees, spider lilies blooming along water edges, and the occasional wild coffee shrub growing in a hammock understory are among the plant discoveries that reward careful walkers or cyclists moving between stops like this one.
